Municipal waste arisings and percentage recycled or composted
Municipal waste arisings rose from 3.408 thousand tonnes during 2004/5 to 3.425 thousand tonnes in the rolling four quarters ending Q3 2007/8 an increase of 0.5%. Over the same period the percentage of municipal waste recycled or composted rose from 17% to 31%. This reflects an increase of more than 80% in the amount of municipal waste that was recycled or composted.
