The Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) award scheme is for small, medium and large enterprises.
It aims to raise awareness of environmental and sustainable development issues within businesses in Scotland.
- The award aims to:
- - encourage efficient use of resources;
- enhance competitiveness of organisations;
- improve environmental performance; and
- support the wider goals of sustainable development through staff and community involvement.
All the elements benefit the surroundings in which we work, live and relax.
The scheme rewards those who have addressed sustainable development issues in the workplace, and aims to encourage others to follow their example.

The VIBES 2007 medium company category winner was Emtelle UK Ltd of Hawick - the photo on the right shows Mohand Benhaddad and John Bathgate of Emtelle.
The 2008 scheme was launched at the Scottish Parliament on March 12 and the event was attended by invited guests and past winners. The event was sponsored by John Scott MSP, with speeches by Environment Minister Mike Russell MSP, Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) chairman David Sigsworth and VIBES chair Gillian Bruce.
