The company actively educates potential customers on the environmental benefits of reusables and publishes environmental facts in its literature and website. The Scottish Nappy Company regularly assess all aspects of the daily business. The route planning for delivery and customer delivery days are examined, as are the number of nappies delivered and returned to reflect usage. Gas, electric, water pressure and detergent use are monitored, the most effective wash cycles are used and a lint trap was installed to reduce down time. The use of a water heater was also monitored and reassessed for reduction in power consumption. Water, energy and chemical consumption have been reduced through better pre-selection and sorting of nappies and the company uses an LPG delivery van, thus saving £2,500 in fuel costs.

The Scottish Nappy Company is committed to promoting the environmental benefits of reusable nappies rather than disposables. The company marketed its services within public bodies (local authorities and hospitals) which has helped to increase customer base and to raise awareness. The company estimates the elimination of around 32 tonnes of waste a year that would otherwise have gone to landfill, washing around a third of a million nappies annually.
