SEIAG/02/8 - TARGETS AND PERFORMANCE INDICATORS IN EDUCATION

Update of SEIAG/00/4

This paper is also available in PDF formatAdobe Acrobat (pdf) Icon.

1. This note sets out the various targets and performance indicators currently in use. It is an update of paper 00/4 issued in September 2000. The main changes are the firming up of the National Priorities indicators, and the removal of those targets which have now run their course.

2. Included here are targets/indicators which either are primarily concerned with education, or extend significantly into the education area as well as into others. It does not include any which centre on the lifelong learning area.

3. Its aim is to provide clarity for those involved in data collection. However, non quantifiable targets have been included for the sake of completeness.

4. Annex A shows the main public target/ indicator initiatives currently ongoing and their characteristics.

5. Annex B shows which topic areas are covered in the 5 main public indicator exercises, and in most cases the specific targets/ indicators. Any corrections and comments will be welcomed.

6. Members are invited to note the paper.
