The interactive mapping tool can be used to identify Scotland's most deprived areas and their location within each local authority area and to see how each authority's share of the most deprived areas in Scotland has changed between the SIMD 2004 and SIMD 2006.
Hovering the mouse over the data zone map for a local authority provides the data zone number e.g. S01000755, and the ranking of the data zone in the overall SIMD, from 1 (most deprived) to 6,505 (least deprived).
Clicking the mouse on a particular data zone in a map of a local authority provides an Ordnance Survey map of the data zone.
Ordnance Survey backgrounds and Scottish Parliamentary Constituency and electoral ward boundaries can also be added to the interactive maps by clicking on the relevant tab.
Further detailed statistics for a particular data zone can be obtained by entering the data zone number onto the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics website.
