Anholt GfK-Roper Nations Brand Index

International statistical data for Scotland's national identity is provided by the Anholt GfK-Roper Nation Brands Index . It is not an official statistics publication as it produced by an external, overseas contractor, but it provides an insight into how Scotland's reputation is viewed by people living outside of Scotland.

Scottish Household Survey - Cultural Access and Participation

At a national level, Scottish Household Survey Annual Report - Results from 2007 on Culture and Sport are representative of how people in Scotland view their engagement with cultural activities and events. Some of the issues on access and participation are explored further in the results from the People and Culture in Scotland: Results from the Scottish Household Survey's Culture and sport Module 2007

National Identity and Reputation

More generally, the Scottish Government does have other statistical sources that can be used to better understand issues to do with National Identity and Reputation.

On Identity, Chapter 3, Section H of the Use of Longitudinal Research in the Evaluation of the Scottish Government's National Outcomes offers a useful summary of data availability on Identity in Scotland. Also, the Scottish Household Survey makes available data about a range of issues that are relevant to the concept of living in Scotland and what that means to the national population, eg Scottish Household Survey Annual Report- Results from 2007 on Neighbourhoods and Communities.
