Golf Tourism

There are over 550 golf courses in Scotland and 5 of the 9 Open Championship venues are Scottish.

VisitScotland continues to promote the Scottish golf product throughout the world. Golf Tourism is worth in the region of £300m to the Scottish economy. Spending by overseas visitors is estimated at £66m, with £46m of this by US visitors (2002 figures).

On average, golfers spend twice that of other visitors to Scotland and for every £1 spent of a green fee, a further £5 is spent elsewhere in the Scottish economy.

Note: Through the National Golf Tourism Monitor, VisitScotland is currently working to update these figures.
