29 February 2012 - Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland No.2: 2011 Edition
Small errors were discovered in the additional support needs data recorded in Table 3.5 and these have now been corrected. Special school pupils with no additional support needs recorded had been excluded in error from the total pupils with ASN category and the grant aided special school pupils with an IEP or Disability recorded had not been recorded correctly in these categories. Table 3.5 in the Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland, No.2 : 2011 Edition have been amended.
01 February 2012 - Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland No.2: 2011 Edition
An error was discovered in Table 2.3 and this has now been corrected. The proportions by age for centrally employed teachers was out by 1 percentage point for each of the following categories, "35 to 44", "45 to 54" and "55 or over".
Tables 3.1, 3.3 and 3.4 were amended due to additional information received from a local authority after publication, that one of the large P1 classes had two teachers. This amendment has caused the percentage of P1-P3 pupils in class sizes of 18 or fewer in 2011 to increase slightly from 20.1 to 20.2. The class size tables in the supplementary tables Pupil Census Supplementary Data, 2011 have also been amended. Table 3.5 has also been corrected to include additional information on pupils with additional support needs which were submitted by local authorities after publication.
An error was discovered in the exclusions data, five pupils were incorrectly recorded under the special sector and have now been allocated to the correct sector. This correction has caused the number of exclusions for pupils with Additional Support needs to decrease by 2 in Table 5.2 (as all pupils in special schools are assumed to have Additional Support needs). The number of exclusions remains unchanged. The supplementary tables in the Exclusions, background dataset 2010/11 have also been amended.

In Tables 2.13, 3.15 and 4.11, the figures for the category "up to 10 hours" were amended to include those staff who had no class contact time. They did not affect any of the messages or data of the main publication.

Small errors were discovered in Tables 3.12, 3.14, 7.5 and 8.4 of the teacher census supplementary data. These were corrected and footnoted as such. They did not affect any of the messages or data of the main publication.
19 August 2011 - SQA Attainment and School Leaver Qualifications in Scotland 2008/09
Tables 17 and 18 in this publication present qualifications attained by leavers with additional support needs from publicly funded secondary and special schools. An error was identified in the programme used to produce this table, which resulted in the omission of the small number of leavers from grant aided special schools and the allocation of a small number of leavers to an incorrect reason for support category. The table has been amended to correct the error and has been replaced in the SQA Attainment and School Leaver Qualifications in Scotland: 2008/09 publication.
03 August 2011 - Summary statistics for schools in Scotland No.1 : 2010 Edition
It was discovered that the correction made on 3rd March 2011 had been incorrectly implemented. Therefore, table 2.1 in the Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland, No.1 : 2010 Edition, was further amended. In each case the change to the total number of teachers was less than five.
20 July 2011 - School leaver attainment and SQA attainment supplementary data 2009/10
An error was discovered in Table 1.11 of the School leaver attainment and SQA attainment supplementary data. The 'Black-Carribean' and 'Asian-Bangladeshi' ethnic groups were omitted from the 'All other categories' ethnic grouping. As this correction was required, the opportunity was taken to also clarify which categories were included in the ethnicity groupings in each table.
13 June 2011 - Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland, No.1 : 2010 Edition
During further analysis of the September 2010 Pupil Census data, it was discovered that the one mainstream grant aided school had submitted incorrect data. The effect of correcting this data at a national level was an increase of five in the number of primary pupils and a decrease of three in the number of secondary pupils in 2010. However, this small change also affected one of the headline messages, changing the percentage of P1-P3 pupils in classes of 18 or less (including two teacher classes of 36 or less) from 21.7 per cent to 21.6 per cent (the precise percentage is very close to 21.65). Therefore, all tables that included mainstream grant aided pupil figures have been amended. This includes Tables 1.1, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 in the Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland, No.1 : 2010 Edition, and most of the tables in the Pupil Census, Supplementary data.
24 March 2011 - Teacher Census, Supplementary Data 2010
Table 1.1 in the Teacher Census, Supplementary Data contains Pupil/Teacher Ratios (PTRs). An error was discovered with the PTRs for 2008 and this has been corrected. The error in each case was small and the effect of correcting this error has been to reduce each PTR by between 0.1 and 0.3. This does not affect any other table containing PTRs. As this correction was required, the opportunity was taken to correct some formatting errors in the tables. In particular, a number of tables and charts had been incorrectly referenced in the index. Also, the layout of the tables providing the data for charts has been altered to improve readability. Apart from the 2008 PTRs in Table 1.1, no data have been changed.
22 March 2011 - Exclusions, background dataset 2009/10
An error was discovered in the data used to produce Table 14 - 'Cases of exclusion amongst pupils with additional support needs by type of need' and the Exclusions background dataset has been corrected. Although the corrections to Table 14 were significant and affect analysis of exclusions by reason for support, they do not affect any other tables or the headline messages.
03 March 2011 - Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland, No.1 : 2010 Edition
During further analysis of the September 2010 Pre-School Education Census data, it was discovered that a small number of pre-school education centres had been assigned to an incorrect local authority area. Therefore, previously published local authority figures were incorrect, but national figures for Scotland were unaffected. Therefore, all tables that included local authority level pre-school education figures have been revised. This includes Tables 2.1, 6.1 and 6.2 in the Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland, No.1 : 2010 Edition, and all of the tables in the Pre-School Education Additional Tables (except Tables 7, 8 and Appendix 1).
08 February 2011 - Pupil Census, Supplementary data
Tables 1.8, 2.7, 3.7, 4.6, 6.11, 7.6 and 8.7 present statistics on Reasons for Support for pupils with Additional Support Needs. An error was discovered in the program used to produce the number of pupils for whom a Reason for Support was reported. The error resulted in a slight undercount of these pupils. Additionally, Table 5.7 showing Main home language of pupils had the Glasgow figure revised. None of these revisions were significant and the Pupil Census, Supplementary data background tables have been updated.
04 November 2010 - Exclusions from School 2008/09
An error was discovered in the program used to produce Tables 4, 6, 13, 14 ,15, 17 and 18 and chart 5, this error has since been corrected and the statistics have been revised. Only the revisions to table 14 were significant and none of these revisions effected the headline message that there were 33,917 cases of exclusions reported in 2008/09. The statistics have been revised and replaced in both the Exclusions from Schools 2008/09 publication and the supporting dataset.
04 November 2010 - Exclusions from School 2007/08
Table 17 in this publication presents the number of cases exclusions of pupils with additional support needs, by reason for support. An error was discovered in the programme used to produce table 17. The error resulted in cases of exclusions for pupils with additional support needs being incorrectly assigned to their reason for support categories. No other tables in the publication were affected. Table 17 has been revised to correct the error and has been replaced in the Exclusions from Schools 2007/08 publication.
04 November 2010 - Exclusions from School 2006/07
Table 13 in this publication presents the number of cases exclusions of pupils with additional support needs, by reason for support. An error was discovered in the programme used to produce table 13. The error resulted in cases of exclusions for pupils with additional support needs being incorrectly assigned to their reason for support categories. No other tables in the publication were affected. Table 13 has been revised to correct the error and has been replaced in the Exclusions from Schools 2006/07 publication.
27 October 2010 - PISA 2006: Highlights from Scotland's Results (Research Report)
Errors were discovered in the two tables on page 3 and the first table on page 4 (the first three tables in the report), and in the text on page 11. An erratum was published and placed alongside the original PISA 2006 report. An annex showing country comparisons under the OECD's preferred methodology has also been published in the same place.
20 October 2010 - School Estate Statistics for 2008 and 2009
Information on the number of schools which were rebuilt or refurbished (either by direct capital funding or via PFI/NDP) in 2007/08 and 2008/09 was revised in the 2010 School Estates publication. This was the result of our ongoing work to improve the quality of our statistical data, it involved analysing and amalgamating data from administrative and statistical sources to produce a revised time series on school building projects for the last 3 financial years. The 2008 and 2009 publications have not been updated to reflect this revision, however the 2008 and 2009 datasets, which provide information at a school level, have been revised.
07 October 2010 - Teachers in Scotland 2009
An error was discovered in the calculation of pupil teacher ratios for 2009 in Tables 8.2. The error did not feed into any other tables. The summary descriptions in the introduction were also not affected. The table has been revised in the Teachers in Scotland 2009 publication.
30 September 2010 - SQA Attainment and School Leaver Qualifications in Scotland 2008/09
Table 14 in this publication presents the number of leavers who achieved SCQF levels 3, 4 and 5 by subject. An error was identified in the programme used to produce this table, which resulted in the pupils not being assigned correctly to each of the SCQF levels 3, 4 and 5. The overall figure for SCQF levels 3-5 in the table was not affected by the error, nor were any other tables in the publication. The table has been revised to correct the error and has been replaced in the SQA Attainment and School Leaver Qualifications in Scotland: 2008/09 publication.
