Pupil Numbers
In 2012 there were 671,218 pupils in publicly funded schools. The number has risen from 670,511 in 2011. The latest projections suggest that pupil numbers in publicly funded schools are projected to decrease steadily to 662 thousand in 2015, then rise until peaking at 678 thousand in 2020.
