Lifelong Learning - Consultation and Planning

Consultation

Main work areas under the lifelong learning topic are:

  • Students at Colleges
  • Students at Higher Education Institutions
  • Funding for Learners, including statistics on support assessed by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) and Education Maintenance Allowances (EMA).

For the first two topics statistical collections are undertaken by the Scottish Funding Council and the Higher Education Statistics Agency.

Two consultation groups with data suppliers and data users are chaired by the Funding Council:

  • the Institutional Group on Statistics (IGS) deals with information relating to Higher Educations Institutions
  • the Statistical Advisory Group for Further Education (SAGE) discusses college information.

Regular meetings are held with local authorities on EMA statistics.

You are invited to register on the ScotStat user register. The ScotStat register allows users and providers of Scottish Statistics to record their interest in specific topics. The register will then be used to contact those interested in a particular statistical area, for example by alerting them to new and updated publications.

Planning

Scottish Economic Statistics Plan 2006/07 provides a summary of planned outputs and developments in economic statistics, including labour market and life-long learning statistics for 2006-07.

The Statistics Forthcoming Publications list should provide information on future statistical outputs for the coming year. These can be viewed at:
