Supporting People (annual): Numbers in receipt of housing support
The Supporting People management information return was introduced in 2003. It recorded the numbers of clients receiving housing support during the year under the Supporting People programme, by client profile, type and intensity of service, service provider and accommodation type.
The pro-forma was revised for 2006-07, with the aim of simplifying aspects that local authorities found difficult, and moving towards a more client-focused collection. The 2007-08 return was nearly identical to the return issued for 2006-07.
PLANNED CHANGES TO THE COLLECTION OF STATISTICS ON NUMBERS OF CLIENTS RECEIVING HOUSING SUPPORT
Summer / Autumn 2008: Supporting People Data Consultation
Following the ending of ring fenced Supporting People budgets, we consulted users and data providers on the practicality of options for future data collection on numbers receiving housing support. The main purposes of the consultation were to identify the continuing need for information on numbers receiving housing support, to assess how the quality of the data collection could be brought up to National Statistics standards and to address practical issues of data collection. The table below provides details of the consultation, the responses, our assessment of the Scottish Government's needs for information and planned changes to the data collection.
In summary we plan to introduce a revised data collection closely aligned to the annual home care census providing information on all clients receiving housing support in a reference week. We propose to settle the details and timing of the annual data collection through a short-life working group reporting to the Housing Support Forum which has representatives of local authorities, voluntary bodies and service providers.
