Family Health Service

Family Health Services consists of General Practice, community pharmacies, dentists and ophthalmic services.

In the year to 31st March 2007, there were 1.5m NHS eye examinations carried out, and 2.2m dental examinations. It is estimated that there were about 24 million face to face contacts with GPs and practice nurses.

In 2006-07, almost 80 million prescriptions were dispensed in the community. This number has been increasing each year.
