Current statistical datasets

Health and Social Care data is available for each partnership in Scotland has been derived from publicly available national data sources. The data covers a range of issues relating to national performance targets, with data available by Health Board, Local Authority and Community Health Partnerships. 

National figures for home care services provided or purchased by local authorities in Scotland. All local authorities in Scotland provide Home Care services which give people the support, practical help and personal care that they need to live as independently as possible in the community. Data available from 1998. 

  • Direct Payments - Under construction

Information on direct payments has been collected by the Scottish Executive since 2001 by means of an annual census sent to Local Authorities. Direct Payments allow eligible people to buy services to meet their community care needs instead of the Local Authority arranging services on their behalf. 

Information on Free personal and nursing care (FPNC) provided to people who receive personal care services in their own home and to residents in Care Homes. Data available from 2003.

Information on Respite provision and number of unpaid carers in Scotland. Data available from 2007. 

  • Mental Health Officers - Under construction

Information in regard to the number of qualified Mental Health Officers (MHOs) who are practising within Scotland on the 31st March. Data available from 2006. 

Annual data return on the number of people registered blind or partially sighted. Please note that registration with Local Authorities for blind and partially sighted persons is not compulsory. Data available from 1998.

Care Homes - information on Care Homes has been collected by the Scottish Executive since March 2002 by means of a national annual census. The census covers all Care Homes in Scotland which are registered with the Care Commission. These may be private, voluntary or run by Local Authorities. ISD are now responsible for publishing the data from the census, the latest data can be found here ISD - Care Homes.
