A number of methodological changes have been incorporated into this release, the key changes being: - the computations are now performed for 31 separate industries before aggregating into published totals;
- the Compensation of Employees component now makes greater use of Short-Term Employment Survey (STES), Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) and Annual Business Inquiry (ABI) data; and
- GVA associated with offshore oil extraction now uses unpublished background data from the UK National Accounts.

| 26 Oct 2008 | Table 1 - GVA analysis by SIC - Scotland and UK less Extra Regio - based on Regional Accounts 2006 | The figures are consistent with the UK National Accounts Blue Book 2006. This relates to the latest set of Regional Accounts for which an industrial breakdown has been published. |
| 26 Oct 2008 | Table 2 - GVA analysis - Scotland and UK less Extra Regio - based on Regional Accounts 2007 | The figures are consistent with the UK National Accounts Blue Book 2007. However, as the 2007 Blue Book was not balanced - i.e. the income, production and expenditure measures of GDP were not reconciled, a statistical adjustment was introduced to reconcile the income measure with the overall estimate. Table 2 reallocates the adjustment pro-rata across regions and countries. ONS did not publish SIC analysis for 2007. |
