Scottish Retail Sales Index – main findings

Retail sales in Scotland increased by 0.5 per cent in volume terms during the second quarter of 2013.

On an annual basis, comparing the latest quarter to the same quarter of the previous year (2013 Q2 on 2012 Q2), retail sales volumes grew by 2.4 per cent.

The value of Scottish retail sales, without adjusting for inflation, during the second quarter of 2013 increased by 0.9 per cent compared to the previous quarter, and grew by 3.6 per cent annually (2013 Q2 on 2012 Q2).

Retail Sales in Great Britain

Retail sales in Great Britain increased by 0.7 per cent in volume terms during the second quarter of 2013, and grew by 1.7 per cent annually (2013 Q2 on 2012 Q2).

The value of GB retail sales, without adjusting for inflation, increased by 1.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2013, and grew by 3.2 per cent annually (2013 Q2 on 2012 Q2).
