Police Strength

As at 31 March 2014, there were 17,244 full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers in Scotland.  This is an increase of 1,010 police officers from the position at 31 March 2007 (+6.2 per cent). Police officer numbers have decreased by 13 FTE officers in the last quarter since 31 December 2013 (-0.1 per cent), and decreased by 252 FTE officers in the last year since 31 March 2013 (-1.4 per cent).
