Police Strength

As at 31 December 2013, there were 17,258 full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers in Scotland.  This is an increase of 1,024 police officers from the position at 31 March 2007 (+6.3 per cent). Police officer numbers have decreased by 56 FTE officers in the last quarter since 30 September 2013 (-0.3 per cent), and decreased by 178 FTE officers in the last year since 31 December 2012 (-1.0 per cent).
