Police Strength

As at 31 December 2012, there were 17,436 full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers in Scotland, an increase of 1,202 (7.4 per cent) from the position at 31 March 2007. Police officer numbers have decreased by 18 FTE police officers in the last quarter from 30 September 2012 (0.1 per cent). There has been an increase of 93 FTE police officers in the last year from 31 December 2011 (0.5 per cent).
