Perceptions of Crime
The proportion of respondents that perceived the crime rate in their local area to have either remained the same or decreased over the previous 2 years was 69% in 2008/09. This represents a statistically significant difference from the previous surveys findings in 2005/06, where 65% of respondents perceived the crime rate in their local area to have remained the same or decreased. The Scottish Government has established a National Indicator to increase positive public perception of the general crime rate.
