Timber Harvested
A total of 7.8 million m3 overbark standing of timber was harvested from forests in Scotland in 2011. This represents an increase of 6% from the previous year. The quantity of timber harvested has increased relatively steadily over the past 35 years, and is now seven times the level of the late 1970s.
The latest forecast of softwood availability (published in July 2012) estimates that timber availability in Scotland will average of 10.5 million m3 a year over the 25-year period from 2012 to 2036.
