HMO (annual): Houses in Multiple Occupation
This return was introduced in order to monitor the new mandatory licensing scheme for houses in multiple occupation that came into force on 1 October 2000. The form records new applications, licenses revoked or suspended, licenses in force, applications received, and refusals made during the year. Information on the size of HMOs and the licensing fees are being collected. The occupancy threshold requiring a licence has now reached its minimum level, which is three or more. There have been revisions made to the 2005 form as the discretionary scheme ended in October 2004.

EVICTIONS (quarterly): Eviction Actions Against Local Authority Tenants
This return was introduced in April 2001. It records the number of eviction actions against local authority tenants. This includes the number which proceeded to court, number of eviction orders issued by the court, abandoned dwellings and actual evictions. Actions that were on the grounds of anti-social behaviour are recorded separately.

HOUSING LISTS (annual): Numbers on Local Authority Lists and Common Housing Registers
This return was introduced in April 2001, the first data period being for the year ending 31 March 2001. It records changes in the number of households on local authority housing lists and common housing registers during the year.

LETTINGS (quarterly): Lettings and Tenancy Changes in Local Authority Dwellings
This form was issued in 2001, and records details about new lettings made to tenants and dwellings falling vacant during the quarter, including the origin of tenants for permanent lettings (e.g. existing tenants transferred, homeless, housing list) and type of dwellings (general or special needs properties). It also records tenancy changes during the quarter (e.g. mutual exchanges and tenancy changes due to succession). Finally the form records numbers of nominations by local authorities to RSLs and other landlords as well as permanent lettings made to these as a result.

RENT ARREARS (annual): Rent Arrears in Respect of Local Authority Dwellings relating to the Housing Revenue Account
This form was taken over by the Housing Statistics Branch with the first year of collection by the branch being as at 31 December 2001. It records the total rent arrears (excluding technical arrears) at the end of the year for local authority dwellings relating to the Housing Revenue Account. The form also records numbers of current and former tenants with rent arrears.
