Rural Community GatewayRural Community Gateway Website

The website was launched in March 2003 and has continued to steadily build membership. As well as being a source of rural related information the site offers users a unique opportunity to contribute to the content and to exchange information and views. In February 2005 a further 3 year contract was awarded to maintain the site and improve accessibility and membership. Recent changes ensured improved accessibility and new features have been added to encourage interest and contribution from users.

The website is editorially independent of the Scottish Government. The views and issues discussed on the website are from people with rural interests or those that are living in our rural communities and experiencing the realities of what that actually means.

Users can:

  • contribute material to the website;
  • post and publicise upcoming events;
  • take part in Question and Answer sessions with experts on topical issues;
  • find out what is going on across rural Scotland;
  • have on-line discussions;
  • receive details about events, publications and policy developments;
  • personalise the RCGW to reflect their interests and;
  • reduce the time they spend browsing through irrelevant material.
