- When we receive your SoI electronically and any required maps and additional information, we will acknowledge this and let you know which of our Case Officers (CO) will be dealing with your application.
- The CO may want to contact you about your SoI. Exceptionally, where sensitive or large-scale projects are being considered, a site visit may be required.
- Your SoI will be assessed by your CO who will record whether your case as a whole is recommended for progression to the next stage (by giving it an amber rating) or not (by giving it a red rating). We will provide you with feedback on the reasons for our assessment including availability of funding for projects of this type.
- Feedback will be provided online, and may be viewed by logging into your case after the date indicated by your Case Officer.
- In arriving at their decision, the Case Officer may get help from colleagues in other public bodies and agencies.
Amber rating
If you are allocated an 'amber' rating then the CO has deemed that the eventual Proposal has the potential to be successful.
This decision is based upon how well your projects fits with the relevant regional priorities, taking into account any negative impacts.
It should be absolutely clear that this is no guarantee of ultimate success, it is merely an indication that it meets to the above criteria.
Red rating
If you are assigned a 'red' rating by the Case Officer then it is suggested that you return to the SoI stage and make amendments before re-submitting as we are not convinced that any eventual Proposal would be successful.
You are at liberty to continue with the application process despite this indication but must be aware that the Government is not prepared to meet any expense in terms of planning the Proposal from this stage onwards.
