There are three main reasons for Options being deemed incompatible:
Double funding
- Payments made on the same land and calculated on the same basis
For example, Organic Aid Scheme Conversion and LMO Conservation Headlands Standard Option. Both payments include an element to compensate for the loss in yield as a result of not applying herbicides and/or insecticides. Compensating twice for the same loss and/or additional costs on the same area of land, i.e. double-funding, in not allowed.
Conflicting management rules
- Each Option has specific management requirements for how it must be carried out. Options will be incompatible if their requirements conflict with each other.
For example, RP Option Conversion and Maintenance of Organic Farming Option A (Conversion) and LMO Extended Hedges are incompatible because land under organic conversion must remain in production but the area covered by the Extended Hedges Option must be taken out of agricultural production.
Site eligibility
- Options can only be done on certain sites.
For example the LMO and RP option Wild Bird Seed Mix/Unharvested Crop must be on arable or improved grassland.
You should check the guidance for the individual Options to make sure you are not applying for an Option which is not eligible on the type of land you hold.
