Inspections and Verification of Capital Items

Capital items will be inspected following submission of the claim and before payment is made. Invoices will be checked at the submission of the claim.

The inspector will visit the holding to ensure the work has been completed to any specified standards, the item appears to be technically sound, the claimed costs are justified and the item is being used for the purpose for which it was funded. For example:

New slurry store erected under Manure/Slurry Storage and Treatment

The inspector will check that the slurry store:

  • complies with the Control of Pollution, Silage, Slurry and Agricultural fuel Oil (SSAFO) regulations 2003
  • is being used to store slurry
  • is not leaking

The inspector will also ensure that the slurry store has been sited to minimise the risk of water pollution, e.g. not next to a water course, the store is bunded.
