Customer Care - Targets for Processing Statements of Intent and Proposals

The application process for Rural Development Contracts - Rural Priorities is in two parts. First you must send us a Statement of Intent followed, after discussion with your Case Officer and formal feedback, by a detailed Proposal.

Before we can begin processing your Statement of Intent or Proposal, we will check it to ensure that it is complete, valid and eligible to receive grant aid. You must send us all the information we need and include all relevant supporting documents.

We will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of your statement of Intent by e-mail or letter within 5 working days of receipt
  • Give you a Case Reference Number and tell you the name of the Case Officer dealing with it
  • Contact you to tell you if we need more information
  • Return your Proposal or any other documents if they are incomplete, inaccurate, or ineligible
  • Give you feedback on your Statement of Intent within 25 working days of your Case Officer writing to you to confirm the unique reference for the case and their contact details

We expect you to have read and understood the rules of the scheme although we will explain these to you if you contact us. You must complete the application form clearly and accurately and ensure that you send us all relevant documentation. This includes a map that must be at the correct scale.

You must contact us if you do not get an acknowledgement of receipt within 5 working days of submitting your Statement of Intent or Proposal.
