Research Strategy
A wide range of research takes place within, or is of value to, NHSScotland. This includes medical and non-medical, clinical and laboratory based, hospital and community focused, epidemiological, organisational, economic and sociological research.
The aim of the Research Strategy for Health and Healthcare is to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health services in Scotland, and to contribute to securing lasting improvements to the health of the people in Scotland. This can be achieved by promoting a knowledge-based health service in which clinical, managerial and policy decisions are informed by sound information about R&D findings and scientific developments.
