Standards
An important role of CSO is to ensure that all research in Scotland involving NHS patients, service users, or their organs, tissue or data is carried out to a high standard. There are two major arms to this, which are closely related;
- Ensuring the type of research described above meets ethical standards
- Applying a system of Research Governance to all research carried out in NHSScotland
