Evidence Network for Culture, External Affairs and Tourism (CEATnet)

Culture, External Affairs and Tourism Research Network (CEATnet).

CEATnet is the successor to ECSnet (Evidence in Culture, Sport and related tourism research network), which has been reformed to reflect the current changes in policy areas since the new administration came into place in 2007. Culture used to belong to the Tourism, Culture and Sport Division, which has subsequently reformed - Sport policy and research has moved to the Health Directorate and Culture and Tourism are now placed within the Culture, External Affairs and Tourism Directorate of the Scottish Government.

Creative (Scotland) BillThe main aim of the Evidence in Culture, External Affairs and Tourism Network (CEATnet) is to help to:

  • Build the evidence base for culture, international affairs and tourism in Scotland, and to promote these across a wider range of policy areas

To achieve this, CEATnet will act as:

  • A virtual forum for sharing information and methodologies on research, evaluation, statistics, economics, and related analytical developments
  • A body to promote best value in research undertaken - maximising impacts, sharing plans and findings, avoiding duplication and exploring the potential for collaboration among members
  • A host for relevant seminars to disseminate findings of research in the Culture, External Affairs and Tourism policy areas and to promote debate on those issues.

CEATnet's core membership operates as a virtual research network, using the website to keep up with recent developments and ongoing work. You can register to get details of how to receive updates on future events and developments. The updates you receive will be accompanied by more general information on the topic(s) you select.

CEATnet is led by a Core Group ('the Hub'), which is made up of Scottish Government analysts and policymakers, and Scottish Government and local authority funded commissioners of research in this area, which includes Non-Departmental Public Bodies and key local authority representative bodies.
