GLOSSARY
Definition Of 'Science' And 'Research'
Within SEERAD the following working definitions for the use of the terms 'research' and 'science' are used which are based on the returns to the Office of National Statistics (ONS) outlining the expenditure on science within the Department.
'SCIENCE' describes all scientific activity including surveillance, monitoring, analysis and original research.
'RESEARCH' refers to only that work which is considered to be original research.
