Public Social Attitudes Survey Vehicle 2008-2011

Public Social Attitudes Survey Vehicle 2008-2011

The Office of the Chief Researcher of the Scottish Government would like to invite Expressions of Interest in tendering for an attitudes survey vehicle to maintain and continue the existing time series data on public perceptions of government and key policy areas in Scotland. The survey would continue the time series data generated by the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey Core Module 2004 - 2007. This focuses on issues such as public perceptions of government and public services, civic engagement and trust in government. Additionally, there may be a requirement from other parts of the Scottish Government for more bespoke modules on specific policy priority areas which the survey vehicle should be able to meet.

The principal analytical task is to conduct an annual survey of social attitudes based on a random probability sample of the public in Scotland partly to continue existing time series data.

Expressions of Interest will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Technical Capability (Experience running large scale projects; experience conducting social surveys; sampling expertise; statistical analysis expertise)
  • Subject Experience (Attitudinal data; Perceptions of government)
  • Financial Capacity

A shortlist of contractors will be selected, based on the above criteria, to receive a formal invitation to tender. Submission of an Expression of Interest should not be taken as a guarantee for inclusion on the shortlist since the number of Expressions of Interest may exceed the number of contractors invited to tender for this work.

If you wish your organisation to be considered for this project, please complete an Expression of Interest Form and return it to Niamh.OConnor@scotland.gsi.gov.uk by Monday 9th June 2008 at 12 noon. Further information on completing an Expression of Interest form can be found at: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/topics/research/18036/11447

Please note that:

  • your Expression of Interest should not include a formulation of the research proposal at this stage
  • we do accept joint expressions of interest - the relevant knowledge, skills and experience of each party should be set out in the Expression of Interest form.
