
The PVG scheme is currently being implemented through 19 projects, led by the Scottish Government and delivered in partnership with a range of agencies and organisations. Four projects, five, 10, 11, 15 and 17, have been closed because the work is complete or has been integrated into other projects.

1. Secondary legislation
To enable successful implementation of the PVG Act though the passage of the secondary legislation required to operate the PVG Scheme. And to support the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (SVG) scheme through devolved provision.
2. Information Flows - Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (SVG)
To establish the practical and technical provisions necessary to exchange safely information between the PVG scheme and the scheme being implemented through the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (2006) Act.
3. Process design and system development
To develop, design and implement the business architecture and system requirements for the new scheme.
4. Determination process design and development
To design the process by which decisions will be reached about those who are unsuitable for regulated work.
6. Establish information flows with the police
To establish connections to police information systems to enable scheme member records to be updated with new police information. To provide the police with access to information on scheme members.
7. Establish information flows with the courts
To establish processes that allow courts to make referrals to the scheme. To enable the agency to seek additional, relevant information from court records to inform listing decisions.
8. Establish information flows with regulatory bodies
To establish potential mechanisms to enable regulatory bodies to provide information on their members who may be unsuitable for regulated work and for the PVG Scheme to provide information to regulatory bodies.
9. Establish information flows with local authorities
To establish potential mechanisms for local authorities to provide useful vetting information on people who may be unsuitable for regulated work.
12. Guidance and Training
To ensure that users of the PVG scheme are adequately prepared to operate it effectively.
13. Transition plan
To put in place a plan which identifies all activities required for transition to the new scheme. This will also include transition of the existing DWCL.
14. Stakeholder engagement, consultation and communication
To raise awareness and develop understanding of the scheme so that stakeholders are informed of progress, able to influence its development and ultimately, use it with ease and confidence.
16. Central Registered Body in Scotland (CRBS)
Develop the role and functions that CRBS will undertake to support the voluntary sector under the new provisions.
18. Cross Border Touch Points
To ensure that decisions taken to implement the SVG Act are considered in relation to PVG implementation and vice versa.
19. Resource and Financial Information
To collate the necessary resource and financial information to inform contract negotiations for delivery and operation of the new scheme.
