Tackling Poverty

In tackling poverty, inequality and disadvantage the Scottish Government is doing what it can within the powers currently available to eradicate child poverty by 2020.

A priority is reducing inequalities between the least advantaged groups and communities and the rest of society by ensuring that support reaches those who need it most.

The Government Economic Strategy includes the Solidarity Target:

To increase overall income and the proportion of income earned by the three lowest deciles as a group by 2017

The Scottish Government has a single Purpose:

To create a more successful country where all of Scotland can flourish through increasing sustainable economic growth.
