Violence Against Women Funding 2012-15

Scottish Government funding for Violence Against Women Work for the period 2012-15

The Scottish Government is very aware of the value of the work being done to end Violence Against Women (VAW) and in supporting victims. Funding is vital to the delivery of local services and it is essential that these meet local needs and help to deliver our shared outcomes.

Some £55 million has been invested in this area over the last four years. Although, the Scottish budget is under pressure, Government will continue the commitment to supporting this vital area at the current levels over the next three years.

The current round of Scottish Government funding for Violence Against Women work comes to an end on 31 March 2012. We are very pleased to advise that Scottish Ministers are continuing their commitment to tackling Violence Against Women, and that new funding will be available for the period 2012-15.

Violence Against Women funding stream

Funding made available via the Violence Against Women funding stream falls under the headings of provision, protection and participation. In order to ensure that the local projects that receive funding will be able to deliver against our outcomes, the Government has requested the assistance of local Violence Against Women Multi-Agency Partnerships in the assessment process and applications for funding will be sent to MAPS for their consideration. Children's Services fund

Funding is also available to deliver therapeutic support to children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. As in previous years, funding applications will have to be assessed by local children's planners before the Scottish Government can make decisions regarding funding allocations.

To ensure that the Government's funding is used effectively in a time of significant spending constraints and where it will have the most impact, the application mechanism is different from previous years, in that the Children's Services fund will now be open to any suitable service providers (or partnerships of providers) to apply. Rape Crisis Specific fund

The Rape Crisis Specific Fund (RCSF) will remain in its present form. There will be a standstill budget for the RCSF and bigs will come directly to the Scottish Government, and will not be routed through the Violence Against Women Multi-Agency Partnerships.
