Audit process??

Hate Crime Working Group report recommended that "the Scottish Executive should consider introducing a citizenship programme for schools which can incorporate work on combating prejudice at an early age". SE response expected soon.

New duty requires the promotion of positive attitudes towards disabled people and the promotion of participation by disabled people in public life.

Suggest what needs to be done to help public authorities to meet the new duty to promote disability equality - particularly the duty to promote positive attitudes towards disabled people.

Work with DRC and disability organisations

When implementing noise nuisance legislation [Anti-Social Behaviour Act Part 5 on Noise Abatement] need to take account of people who unintentionally breach the conditions, because of disability.

All local authority services but particularly housing need to be aware of the support systems available within the authority and how to contact them for further guidance e.g. care worker

Wheelchair specifications adopt integrated systems approach to ensure fit for purpose re:
• use with communication aids
• mountings
• height adjustable to fit under school desks / tables
