Introduction

Mainstreaming EqualityTransport Car

An understanding of transport needs from an equality perspective is crucial if equality and inclusion for women and men across equality groups is be addressed across a broad range of policy areas (for example, employment, poverty and access to services). For example, women are much more likely than men to use public transport and that men are more likely than women to use private cars. Minority ethnic women, older women, disabled women, women in rural areas and women on low-incomes also have particular transport needs and experiences which need to be addressed.
