Introduction

Mainstreaming EqualityEnvironment & Sustainable Development Windmill on Gigha

Sustainable development's goal is to enable all people throughout the world to satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life without compromising the quality of life of future generations. While this impacts everyone throuhout Scotland, people from various underrepresented groups need to be considered across a range of issues relating to the environment and sustainable development. For example, if we think about access to the countryside and national parks, minority ethnic people may have particular needs if they are to feel confident and safe when wishing to visit isolated rural areas. Access to groups and organizations that support the environment and sustainable development is also a need to be considered for minority ethnic and disabled groups.
