Age
Age is an important factor in the experience of some civil problems. A study conducted by the Legal Studies Branch at the Scottish Executive found that the mean age for people with a civil legal problem was 39 years, a markedly lower age than the mean of sample as a whole (47 years). In particular, results showed that 67% of all employment disputes and personal injury problems are experienced by respondents between the ages of 18 years and 34 years. Those between 16 and 24 years reported over 35% of all money and debt problems compared with only 13% of people over 45 years reporting problems with money or debt.
