Strategic group on women

The Strategic Group on Women was established by the former Minister for Communities, Margaret Curran MSP, in February 2003 as a small, independent, short-duration group of individual women to examine what more the Executive should do to improve opportunities for women.

The Group's report "Improving the Position of Women in Scotland: An Agenda for Action" was published on 28 November 2003 and considered by the Scottish Women's Convention in the development of its Strategic Plan. (More information about the Convention is available at "Consultation with women".)

The Executive published a detailed response on 18 March 2004 to the recommendations within the report which were listed for the Executive's action. An update on Scottish Executive action on the Report's recommendations was published on 30 March 2006.
