Offender Management - Types of Offenders

Young People Who Offend

Young people who break the law and are over the age of 16 are dealt with in the criminal courts. Under the age of 16 they are dealt with by the Children's Hearing System in Scotland.

Female Offenders

Female offenders are treated in the same way as male offenders. There is a women's prison called Cornton Vale and specific projects that support women to prevent reoffending.

Restricted Patients

Restricted patients are people who are detained in hospital with a restriction order.
