FireLaw

Welcome to the FireLaw section of the Scottish Government website. This section provides information about fire law in Scotland. We all know what damage can be done by fire and we all hope that it doesn't happen to us.

We all have a role to play in protecting ourselves and others from fire.

These roles are set out in the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005. Part 3 of the Act specifies who has responsibility for fire safety in non-domestic premises in Scotland.

If you are a user or occupier of non-domestic premises (premises which are not private dwellings) or a house in multiple occupation which requires a licence, please ensure you check your responsibilities for fire safety under Part 3 of this Act.

Information about fire safety in the home is available at Don't Give Fire a Home.
