Civil Emergencies

Emergency services

Emergencies can happen at any time. The threats we face today include pandemic flu, extreme weather, utilities failure and terrorist attack. In recent years, flooding, industrial disputes, outbreaks of foot and mouth disease and avian influenza, and the Glasgow airport attack have all affected Scotland and other parts of the UK.

Scottish Resilience is part of Scottish Government. It works with frontline organisations including the police, fire and rescue services, the Scottish Ambulance Service, local authorities and health boards, to prepare for and respond to all types of emergencies. Its work contributes to the Scottish Government's aim of building a safer, stronger Scotland.
