The following terms are used in the information available on police officer numbers:
Additional regular
Officers at ports and airports paid either wholly or partially by the port/airport authority and additional officers either wholly or partially funded by the locally authority or an external body.
Force staff working at the Scottish Police College, HMICS, Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency ( SCDEA) or the Scottish Police Services Authority ( SPSA).
The figures collated by HMICS include all police officers and support staff employed by the eight Scottish police forces, but do not include police officers and support staff employed in Scotland by the British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence Police or the Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

Total number of police officers serving in Scottish police forces
Total number of support staff employed by Scottish police forces
Number of promotions gained by police officers
Number of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) police officers serving in Scottish police forces
Number of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) support staff working in Scottish police forces
Number of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Special Constables serving in Scottish police forces
Number of part-time police officers serving in Scottish police forces
Total number of police officers serving in Scottish police forces broken down by rank
Number of hours worked by Special Constables
