In June 2006, former Minister for Justice Cathy Jamieson MSP announced a review of Scotland's preparedness for dealing with simultaneous major emergencies.
The review team comprised HM Chief Inspector of Fire Services (now the Scottish Fire and Rescue Advisory unit) officials from the Scottish Government Justice Directorate and a representative of HM Inspector of Constabulary. As part of its work, the review was also to consider the future of fire service control rooms in Scotland.
Between July 2006 and January 2007, the review team undertook a series of consultative meetings with key stakeholders, and invited written submissions from them, to be considered alongside examples of good practice from the UK and elsewhere. The review team reported to Ministers in summer 2007.
