  • To identify the need for guidance for practitioners and other relevant parties on the special measures and other provisions of the Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2004 relating to child witnesses in High Court and Sheriff Court Solemn cases and in Children's Hearings referrals to the Sheriff Court and to actively participate in its production.
  • In the organisation, with "Update", of joint High Court Reform and Vulnerable Witnesses Act road shows to take place in November/December 2004.
  • In the consideration of the need for and organisation of generic training events designed for practitioners and other relevant parties both prior to and post Phase 1 of the Act's implementation.
  • In the consideration of how to monitor the adequacy of training provided by practitioners' organisations themselves.
  • In the consideration of how the provisions of the Act relating to child witnesses in the High Court and Sheriff Court Solemn cases and in Children's Hearings referrals to the Sheriff Court can be promoted and communicated to a wider audience other than those directly involved in the operation of the justice system.
