Dear Colleague

Purpose of the circular: To convey the Scottish Ministers' approval of the 2007 police pay settlement.

Summary of Contents: This circular authorises the implementation of the Police Arbitration Tribunal (PAT) award 2007 for the federated ranks' pay increase. The award is that from 1 September 2007 there should be a 2.5% uplift in the pay for federated ranks and cadets together with increases to the Competence Related Threshold Payment and Dog Handler's Allowance.

These increases are effective from 1 September 2007 and are set out in PNB (Advisory) Circulars 4 and 5. An appropriate determination under the Police Regulations will be issued in due course. A copy of the PNB Circulars can be obtained from the Office of Manpower Economics web site http://www.ome.uk.com/review.cfm?body=1

A list of circulars published in 2007 is listed on the Scottish Government web site at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Justice/Police/Circulars/2007
