Dear Colleague

Purpose of the circular: To confirm that Police Circular 2/2005, relating to the salary placement of sergeants on promotion to the rank of inspector between 1 September 1996 and 31 March 2003 should be implemented as soon as possible.

Summary of contents: Police Circular 2/2005 asked forces to ensure that any sergeant promoted to the rank of inspector between 1 September 1996 and 31 March 2003 and who had on 31 August 1994 served for four or more years as a sergeant, should on promotion to Inspector, have been placed on the second point of the Inspector's pay scale.
