Purpose of the circular: To draw attention to the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003 (Amendment of the Police (Scotland) Act 1967) Order 2005 which came into effect on 25 June 2005. Attached is a copy of the Order which re-enacts provisions of the Police (Scotland) Act 1967 to allow for a Deputy Chief Constable to return to their home force upon completion of a period on service outwith that force to carry out other service.
