| Summary of duties | Applications are invited from serving police officers for one of the inspection manager (formerly staff officer) posts within Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland. The duties of the inspection manager will include analysing data, systems of policing and procedures, making reasoned and objective judgements, and compiling reports which set out evidence, assessment and recommendations. Good written communication skills and broad policing experience are essential. Inspection managers represent HMICS in a wide variety of fora and the post represents a unique development opportunity. The post is at the Superintendent rank. Applications are therefore invited from Chief Inspectors, substantive Superintendents and Chief Superintendents. At Superintendent rank only, appointment may be temporary or substantive, subject to the agreement of an applicant's Chief Constable. The post is open to substantive Chief Superintendents but temporary promotion to this rank is not available. |
