Adults with Incapacity - Revised Codes of Practice

As you will be aware, the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 made a number of changes to the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000. A number of the changes were commenced on 5 October and the remainder will be commenced on 1 April - for more details see the commencement note.

Jan Killeen, the former AWI National Practice Coordinator, has led work to revise the current Codes of Practice for Attorneys, Access to Funds, Guardianship and Intervention Orders and for Local Authorities to take account of these changes.

The Codes, which reflect discussions with key stakeholders, are now available for comment on the Adults with Incapacity website in penultimate draft form. Please see links below for each code. Complementary material will be placed on the Office of the Public Guardian's website.

In order to meet the publication deadline of 1 April, we will not be able to take account of comments after Friday, 8 February 2008.
