Introduction

Hugh Henry MSP, Deputy Minister for Justice, indicated at the Joint Legal Aid Conference on 29 October 2004, that the Executive would take forward proposals for the Reform of Civil Advice and Assistance.

The Scottish Executive published a Consultation Paper on the Reform of Civil Advice and Assistance which was developed by the Tripartite Consultation Group of the Scottish Legal Aid Board, Law Society of Scotland and the Scottish Executive.

The period of the public consultation was from 03 December 2004 to 28 January 2005. There were 23 written responses received.

All non-confidential responses can be viewed by visiting the library or can also be provided by post at the Scottish Executive Library, K Spur, Saughton House, Broomhouse Drive , Edinburgh EH11 3XD . The Executive will also post an analysis of the written responses by 30 April 2005.
