Part V Pilots

The Scottish Legal Aid Board has set up a programme of pilots under Part V of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986. This is funded from the grant-in-aid they receive from the Scottish Executive. The pilots were set up to test different methods of delivery of legal assistance.

An evaluation of phase one of the pilots showed positive results and indicated that the pilots were successful on the whole. Ministers have agreed to continue the funding for a further 3 years from April 2005. Arrangements are currently underway to set up the second phase of pilots.

Further information about Part V Pilots can be obtained from the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
